The Moose Call
March 2024

President's Message

I hope everyone’s getting out and enjoying the warmer weather. If you have any suggestions for new activities, fund raisers or anything that might be on your mind please put it in the suggestion box next to the Administrator’s office.

I’m sure that you’re aware, but a reminder, Cornhole has tournaments on Monday and Wednesday each week. On those days, we are serving burgers, chicken strips, chicken fried steak sandwiches, chicken sandwiches from 6pm to 7pm. Come check it out sometime.

I know I leave the same reminders in my letter each month, but we have new members joining and I want to make sure they are aware of things to do at the lodge. I know Jean puts it in different places in the bulletin, but it is sometimes missed.

We want to start having a lodge cleaning every couple of months, please check your bulletin for the dates. Please come out and help if you can. We try to have a little fun while we are doing the dirty work. Thank you to all of you that show up every time we have them.

I want to remind everyone that we are now taking credit cards and have an ATM.

Please come out and join us on Sundays for washers and darts.  Darts are the 1st and 3rd and washers are 2nd and 4th.  Fun day will be held on the 5th Sunday’s this will include but not limited to Mexican train and cards. We bring snacks on the 1st Sunday for darts, it is to celebrate our monthly birthdays.

The Women of the Moose hold their fund raisers on the 2nd week of every month please support their efforts in supporting Moose Charities.

I want to remind everyone that our members are the reason we have this lodge and the purpose of it is to support the Children at Mooseheart and the Elderly at Moosehaven.   We encourage our members to bring their guests and join the Moose for this purpose.

Fraternally,

Tina Holloway, President

Sr. Regent's Message

A big thank you to all who came out and supported the lodge in April. Thank you to all the people who came out and supported the garage sale on April 6th.

Have you  checked out the new carpet on the stage? Thank you to Mike Gurleski and team for coming out and donating your time to repair the floor and Lee King, Kevin King, and Vicki Sawyer for laying the new carpet for us. A great big Thank you to Fran Blakeley for donating the carpet. It looks fantastic!

Thank you to all who came out for the lodge clean-up day. If you want to help but can’t help on the assigned day, let me know and we could work something out for you to help.

Thank you for all who came out for the celebration of life for David Burt’s Memorial and potluck.

Legion Celebration was in Malvern lodge. thank you to all who attended. If you have never attended one, I would encourage you to go to one and meet other Moose members from different lodges. Lots of laughter and you learn what works for them in their Lodges.

A big thank you to Harlan and Ann Stee for your service to the Moose Lodges through all the years of your service. Welcome to your retirement now.

As always, we need volunteers to helo out at the lodge. there is always something you can help with. Like int he kitchen to help serve and clean up. Volunteers are always welcome. So, if you can spare some time, please let us know.

I look forward to seeing you at the lodge.

Fraternally,

Belinda McNabb-Lance, Sr. Regent

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart. Elizabeth Andrew

Each month we will randomly pick two Moose ID numbers. One will be a man’s number and one will be a woman’s number. The numbers will be printed in the bulletin somewhere. If the number is your number let Jean Larson, the administrator, know and you will get a free dinner. Search the bulletin…it could be your number!

Last month’s numbers belonged to June Ulrey and Ryan Walker. Neither claimed their free dinner.

Harlan Stee has been the Legion Secretary for 13 years and has decided to retire. We would like to thank him for all his years of dedication to the Moose and the Moose Legion. THANK YOU HARLAN!!!! We would like to welcome Chris Woodruff AKA Pee-Wee as the new Legion Secretary. We know that you will do ayour very best to fill Harlan’s shoes.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are in desperate need of volunteers for cooking and cleaning at the lodge! If we cannot get some additional volunteers we will forced to discontinue some lodge meals. It is the same few people that are always int he kitchen cooking and cleaning. If you enjoy having meals at the lodge it is your time to step up and volunteer. Let us know you are williing to cook and we will make the plans necessary so that you can volunteer. PLEASE HELP!

Why didn’t you ask me to help? Because you saw we needed help but still didn’t offer!

CLEANING DAY

We will be having cleaning day on June 22nd
before Legion Celebration at our lodge. Mark you calendars and please come help. Let’s make our lodge sparkle for all the out-of-town guests!

MOTHER'S DAY

Mother’s Day is May 12th. In past years, we have tried Mother’s Day Breakfast and Mother’s Day Brunch and neither has been very successful. This year we will try something new:
